Antedotum x Happily Ever Style
Why I decided to dedicate my first CBD skincare experience to Antedotum
For the longest time, I was skeptical about trying CBD skincare products. Why? Mostly because when “CBD” started trending, it very quickly became a buzzword being slapped on the labels of beauty products. It wasn’t easy to figure out which of them were authentic and which of them were part of a “marketing strategy.”
What I learned from googling “CBD skincare products”
Every winter, my combination skin acts up and my cheeks become extremely dry. So I did a search for products that could calm my irritated, red cheeks, and found myself repeatedly coming across articles on the natural anti-inflammatory properties of CBD. I decided it was time to take a closer look into the world of CBD skincare products and find something that would help
with my dry, patchy cheeks.
In the process of my search, I learned that I was very wrong about thinking “CBD = marijuana.” CBD, short for cannabidiol, is found in marijuana but they’re not the same thing. It is an active ingredient in cannabis derived from the hemp plant but it isn’t psychoactive, which means it’s not what gets you high.
Another key knowledge I gained was on the labeling of “CBD” — just because “CBD” is printed on a bottle, it doesn’t mean you really get the full benefits of it because many products simply incorporate hemp seed oil in the formula. And although the ingredient is indeed great for moisturizing skin, it doesn’t actually contain any cannabinoids that carry the antioxidant and healing traits that my irritated red cheeks are looking for.
Why I put my trust in Antedotum
While many brands are vague about what they put into their skincare products, Antedotum stood out to me because of its full transparency. Within minutes of scrolling through the website, I was able to find detailed information about key ingredients as well as a clear ingredients list included on every product page.
Another reason why I decided to dedicate my first CBD experience to the brand is because the products feature 500mg Antedotum CBD Complex, which is extracted from the cleanest flowers and leaves of organic hemp plants, i.e. the key component that helps with soothing irritated skin and reducing redness.
The unique formula also contains 100% pure, full-spectrum CBD, which means the products contain all of the elements of the industrial organic hemp plant, including CBG, which is a rare cannabinoid in skincare that has antimicrobial properties! What’s more, Antedotum’s products are fragrance-free, clean, safe, and effective. In fact, they have a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to back it up all up as well.
My thoughts on the Firming Serum and the Face Oil
In order to really test out the products, I simplified my skincare routine to 3 steps: After double-cleansing my face, I apply Antedotum’s Elixir Firming Serum and finish with the Vital Face Oil.
I initially thought I would need some moisturizer after the oil because that has been the case with some face oils in the past, especially with the heater on. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I didn’t need to add anything else.
The first thing I noticed from using the serum was that my dry, rough cheeks have become a lot smoother. In fact, I feel like my skin is plumper and has a bounce now! And then using the face oil afterward gives my skin a good layer of hydration.
Most importantly, my skin doesn’t appear agitated or inflamed anymore, which makes me really happy since that was my main concern! Instead, my skin has more glow, looks healthier (and happier)!
Incorporated in my daily skincare ritual
I like to practice face yoga using the face oil as I meditate in the morning because it’s one of the few oils I’ve come across that isn’t too “heavy” for my oily t-zone. The calming scent also helps provide me with a sense of relaxation so I can start the day without feeling stressed.
Before bedtime, I would light a candle and complete my nighttime skincare routine, using the face oil as I take a few deep breathes whilst massaging my face and neck. Nothing beats ending the day with a lighter, clearer mind.
